POSTER PRESENTATIONS
A poster presentation is a visual display and an extremely useful and valuable element to a conference’s technical program.
- It provides an alternative medium for delegates to learn about new ideas and topics and expand their knowledge about certain concepts.
- It allows those presenters who are not confident in speaking on stage to still present an idea at the conference.
- It means that more abstracts can be included in the conference program, with obvious benefits for everyone.
- It provides another dynamic to the conference program.
A poster is prepared on presentation cardboard or other material. It contains some text and imagery relating to the author’s ideas or research. Photographs, diagrams and tables are useful as well. There is no limit to the font size, type or layout of the actual text but authors must bear in mind that simplicity of reading at a distance and interpreting the information is important. There are no guidelines for the layout, and authors are limited only by their own creativity.
Poster Session
There is time allocated in the conference program which is the “Poster Session” for poster presentation. All authors are asked to be alongside their poster during this time (Tuesday 16 August between 15:30 and 17:00). The Poster Session time is marketed as an opportunity for delegates to approach the author of the poster and ask questions or discuss any element of the information displayed.
Size
A poster is about 105 cm high and 80 cm wide and will be pasted by yourself in the morning, Tuesday, Aug. 16. Please take away your poster before 5 pm, Wednesday, Aug. 17.
