  • Superhydrophobicity of PTFE-HFM with PDMS/Nano-SiO2 Composite Coating Used in Waste Oil Purification

  • In recent years, the unreasonable discharge of waste oil has caused great harm to people''s life, so the development of efficient waste oil recovery technology has become the focus of attention. In this study, GE (graphene)/PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) - PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) - HFM (hollow fiber membrane) was prepared by impregnation-coating method, and the effects of different GE concentrations on the structure and performance of GE/PDMS-PTFE-HFM were investigated. The results showed that GE was attached to the surface of the composite membrane in the presence of PDMS and increased with the increase of graphene content. The addition of GE constructed a laminar flow channel structure on the surface of the composite membrane and increased the roughness of the membrane. With the increase of GE content, the average pore size decreased, but the GE constructed a fast transport layer on the membrane surface, which endowed the composite membrane with more accurate separation performance. The water contact angle of the composite membrane increased significantly from 98.217°to 152.009°. After the addition of GE, the kerosene flux of the M-2 membrane reached 564.23?L·m?2·h?1·bar?1 and the high-temperature waste oil flux reached 59.12?L·m?2·h?1·bar?1. After four cycles, the waste oil flux recovery of the M-2 membrane remained above 76?%. The performance of the composite membrane in high-temperature waste oil treatment was verified by testing the waste oil flux at temperatures between 90 and 150 °C. In conclusion, the composite membrane has great potential in waste oil treatment. In summary, the preparation process developed in this study was straightforward and convenient. The fabricated composite membrane exhibited excellent high-temperature resistance and demonstrated long-term stable operation under high-pressure conditions, which provided an innovative solution to address membrane fouling and performance degradation in waste oil treatment applications.
