Thirtyyearsagothetripleinterpolyelectrolyte-metal[TPMC]complexesweredescribedinourpaper[1].TheseTPMCweresynthesizedbymixingofaqueoussolutionsoftwooppositelychargedpolyelectrolyteswiththesaltsoftransitionmetalssuchasCu2+,Ni2+,Co2+,Fe2+,Fe3+.Polyacrylicacid(PAA)andpolyethylenimine(PEI)wereusedastheinitialpolyelectrolyteseachisabletoserveasaligandwithrespecttothesemetals.RecentlywedetectedveryhighstabilityofTPMCandshowedthattheycouldbeusedtoextractthemetalionsfromverydiluteaqueoussolutionswiththeconcentrationlowerthan10-6M.
