The National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland was established in 1942. It comes under the administrative sector of the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Before the Office was established, matters relating to patents, trademarks and the trade register were dealt with by various administrative authorities, the most recent being the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
