The Department is the oldest chemistry department in Hong Kong with a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research. Currently, there are 16 academic staff active in teaching and research in all branches of chemistry: analytical, inorganic, organic, physical, and material.
Various degree programmes are offered at the undergraduate and the postgraduate level: BSc ( 3 years), MPhil (2 years), PhD (3 years), and MSc ( Materials Science) ( 2 years part-time). Every year approximately 90 first year undergraduate students are admitted.
