【简介】 The Department of Chemistry is one of the largest departments in the University with long standing. It is also well-equipped and well-funded, and its faculty is of great renown for its endeavour in quality teaching and excellent research. Currently, there are about 20 faculty members actively engaged in teaching and research in virtually all branches of chemistry. The enrolment of undergraduate and postgraduate students majoring in Chemistry has been maintained at a size of 240 and 80, respectively, for several years. The Department, which is located at the University Science Centre occupying a total floor area of 3,392 square meters, also provides an excellent environment for studies. A massive renovation programme was conducted in the past two years to upgrade all teaching and research laboratories with up-to-date fixtures, such as chemically inert epoxy-topped benches, new fumehoods with safety alarms and new ventilation systems.
