【简介】 More than 500 staff - scientists, technicians, field and support staff - work at 10 sites, from Kerikeri in the north to Clyde in the south. A network of five orchards in the main fruit-growing districts act as outdoor laboratories where research is carried out under realistic climatic and commercial conditions. Research is carried out with some of New Zealand's largest plant-based and food processing industries. Their genomics programme has already produced significant genetic mapping of apple and kiwifruit genomes, and other fruit will follow. An important part of HortResearch's work is to ensure that research findings are passed on to growers and the industries through field days, seminars and a range of publications, products and services.
