The Advanced Carbon Materials Center is a Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) that is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and by the University of Kentucky. The Center provides a focal point at the University of Kentucky for research on the science and engineering of carbon materials, and it brings together the expertise and knowledge of faculty, researchers, and students in the College of Arts & Science, the College of Engineering, and Research and Graduate Studies. The Centers mission is to become internationally renowned for the synthesis, study, and application of carbon-based materials, to support and develop opportunities for undergraduate and graduate education, and to transfer knowledge and technology to the industrial sector. Strong emphasis is given towards the development and ultimate implementation of novel materials for commercial applications.
