内容简介:
【简介】 Research in the School covers three broad themes, Physical & Analytical Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry and Biological Chemistry. The School is recognised for its strong interdisciplinary approach to chemistry, as exemplified by the Centre for Metalloprotein Spectroscopy and Biology (CMSB), the Carbohydrate Chemistry Centre (CCC) and the Wolfson Materials and Catalysis Centre (WMCC). Research in the School is carried out by 25 research active staff, 38 fellows and over 60 postgraduate students. Laboratories are undergoing a four-year rolling programme of refurbishment providing state-of-the-art synthetic and instrumentation facilities. Over £3M has been expended including funds won from external sources such as Wolfson Foundation, HEFCE and Weston Trust. Research is supported by a team of teaching research officers and administrators. Major facilities include NMR, X-ray crystallography, and other advanced methods of spectroscopy.
The School has a current research grant holding in excess of £11M. It has recently been awarded a Joint Infrastructure Fund grant of £3.6M in collaboration with the Schools of Biological Sciences and Information Systems for the development of Biophysical Chemistry. This will provide major equipment up to £1.4M in total and provide further laboratory refurbishment and building extensions to the Chemistry Laboratories.
