内容简介:
【简介】 The School has a vigorous and internationally competitive research portfolio covering the core discipline and its interfaces with Physics, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Materials Sciences and Engineering. The School consists of the Departments of Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry headed by Professor M Schroder, Professor G Pattenden FRS and Professor M A Chesters, respectively. Across these Departments are interweaved eight research groupings covering, Theoretical and Computational Chemistry; Surfaces and Interfaces; Materials Chemistry; Laser Spectroscopy, Dynamics and Astrophysical Chemistry; Green Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Clean Technology; Co-ordination, Organometallic and Supramolecular Chemistry and Catalysis; and Contemporary Organic Synthesis.
The school has an 'Excellent' rating in the Teaching Quality Assessment exercise and Grade 5 in the Research Assessment Exercise. Their Undergraduate Programme includes 4-year MSci courses, or the option of 3-year BSc courses, in Chemistry; Chemistry and Molecular Physics; Computational Chemistry; Biochemistry and Biological Chemistry; Chemistry of Materials, and Chemistry and Management Studies. Chemistry studies at Nottingham have full Royal Society of Chemistry accreditation.
The School has excellent state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and research. It is housed in a purpose-designed building with modern laboratories for synthesis, a newly constructed wing for biological chemistry opened in 1999, new laboratories for theoretical and computational chemistry, a suite for solid-state nmr, dedicated surface science laboratories and laser laboratories and a full complement of analytical instrumentation, workshops and support staff.
