【简介】 The Department's research falls into four generic areas:
Chemical Reaction Engineering Biochemical Engineering Advanced Separation Processes Environmental Engineering
Within these areas, international standing has been established in the following research programmes:
Catalytic combustion Hydrocarbon fouling Enhanced oil recovery Adsorption Bio-separations (including membranes & chromatography) Reactor modelling Zeolitic and carbon membrane synthesis General downstream processing (protein refolding, beverage flavour stripping and recovery) Cleaning of process plant
Broadly, their research programmes cover:
Environmental monitoring Waste minimisation Design of intrinsically clean processes Wet air oxidation Tissue engineering
Typically, around 55 researchers are working on about 40 externally funded projects worth in excess of ?.5 million. Funding is derived from Research Councils, the DTI, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the British Council, the European Union, Government research agencies and private industry.
