The decision to form the Federation of the European Zeolite Association (FEZA) was taken in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Germany) on 21 July 1994 by the representatives of the National Zeolite Associations from UK, France, Germany, Italy, Hungary and the Netherlands.
The FEZA was constituted in Szombathely (Hungary) on 12 July 1995, including representatives from these six countries plus Spain and Bulgaria. The first president of the FEZA was Herman van Bekkum (the Netherlands).
Then,the Romanian Zeolite Association, the Georgian Association of Zeolites, the Polish Zeolite Association,the Czech Zeolite Group, Portugal and Slovakia were subsequently admitted as members of FEZA.
Since 1999,the International FEZA Conference has being held by FEZA annually, and the FEZA Prize for Ph.D. Work in Zeolites or Related Materials has being attributed every 3 years .
