【组织简介】 The Korean Chemical Society, founded by 53 chemists on July 7, 1946, is the official academic society of the Korean chemists and held international conventions to celebrate its 25th (in 1971) and 50th (in 1996) in Korea, and the member society for the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS). The Society consists of the 13 Regional Chapters and the Academic Divisions.
The Korean Chemical Society with more than 5,000 chemists actively working in all fields of chemistry strives to promote chemistry in Korea and to contribute to the development of Korea. The Korean Chemical Society is trying to help the Korean Chemists actively and contribute to the prosperity of all humankind through the 21st century with the slogan, "Green Chemistry, Clean World"

∵Development of the chemical society through various academic activities ∵ Cultivation of the future chemists and popularization of Chemistry through chemical education and outreach programs ∵Development of the Korean chemical industry through educational-industrial cooperation in Chemistry ∵Globalization of Korean chemical society through positive international activities ∵Development of the chemical society through cooperation of the chemical science and technology societies ∵Supporting the development of Chemistry through construction of data-base of chemistry-related information
History 1946 founded by 53 chemical scientists 1948 held the first General Convention 1949 published the first issue of the Journal of the Korean Chemical Society 1961 began publication of a new magazine, Progress in Chemistry and Chemical Industry (CHEMWORLD since 1991) 1963 joined the IUPAC 1971 the 25th Anniversary 1974 began publication of the Chemical Education 1979 joined the FACS (Federation of Asian Chemical Societies) 1980 began publication of the Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society 1985 joined IUPAC affiliate membership scheme 1987 sponsored the Asian Chemical Congress (ASCHEM87 Seoul) 1991 began publication of the Korean Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, started attending IChO (International Chemistry Olympiad) 1992 joined the AFMC (Asian Federation for Medical Chemistry) 1995 moved into the present building (Sangnam office) with support of LG chemical 1996 the 50th Anniversary, held the Korean Chemical Congress, constructed home page of KCS, KCSNet (http://www.kcsnet.or.kr) 1999 won first place at the 31st IChO held in Bangkok, Thailand
