【简介】 Swain's Collections
Broad coverage of chemistry and chemical engineering is offered in a collection of 54,000 volumes and 619 journal subscriptions (as of 6/31/97). The collection also includes theses and dissertations produced by Stanford Chemistry and Chemical Engineering students since 1950. Major printed reference sources include Chemical Abstracts; Beilstein Handbook of Organic Chemistry; Gmelin Handbook of Inorganic and Organometallic Chemistry; and Sadtler Spectra (IR, Proton-NMR, C13-NMR). Additional abstracts and indexes in Swain include: Bibliographic Notebooks for Organometallic Chemistry, ChemInform, Chemical Highlights, Current Chemical Reactions, Derwent's Journal of Synthetic Methods, Mass Spectrometry Bulletin, Methods in Organic Synthesis, and Natural Product Updates.
The Library provides Stanford students, faculty, and academic staff access to a number of electronic resources. They include: Chemical Abstracts Online, CASREACT, Beilstein Crossfire/Gmelin Crossfire, Chapman & Hall Chemical Dictionaries on CD-ROM (Inorganic & Organometallic, Natural Products, Organic), and the Properties of Organic Compounds. The campus information system also provides access to many files that include BIOSIS, Ei/Compendex, INSPEC, and Medline. Selected Macintosh software such as ChemDraw, Chem3-D, Chemintosh, LabView, as well as some Hypercard tutorials are also available via a server to members of the Stanford community.
