【组织简介】 The Chemical Industry Council of Illinois (CICI) is a statewide trade association whose goals are to ensure the viability and promote the interests of the chemical industry by:
A. Gaining public acceptance and understanding through the communication of the objectives and beneficial contributions of the chemical industry.
B. Ensuring that public policies and programs are mutually beneficial to the citizens of Illinois and the chemical industry through the provision of leadership, information and service.
C. Inspiring and encouraging students' and educators' interest in chemistry and the sciences.
D. Attracting and uniting a sufficient number of member companies to support CICI.
The strength of the Illinois chemical industry lies in the products it provides to make our lives easier, healthier and more productive. CICI helps promote our industry's strengths.
CICI was founded in 1951 with 16 members. Currently, there are over 188 members. The association now represents over 700 facilities in Illinois. CICI has not only grown in size but also in recognition. One example of the recognition is the 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1994 Governor's Pollution Prevention Awards that CICI received for its proactive environmental programs.
The Council consists of regular members, affiliate members and associate members. Regular members are companies which are engaged in the manufacture, blending, distribution and sale of beneficial chemicals. National association members are also classified as regular members. Affiliate members are those companies which provide transportation, equipment or supplies to the chemical industry. Associate members are companies which provide legal, engineering or consulting services to the chemical industry.
Each member company appoints a top-ranking executive to serve as "CICI Representative" which, in effect, identifies that person as the Company's liaison to the Council. The Officers and a Board of Directors who are elected by the representatives of member companies direct the business affairs of the Council.
One of the major strengths of CICI is the active participation of top Illinois executives as Officers and Directors.
Much of CICI's work is handled through committees. These committees help to formulate policy and conduct programs. CICI Company representatives manage and staff operating committees which include:
