The Toxic Substance Control Act Test Submission database, TSCATS, was developed by SRC for EPA in 1985. It is a central system for the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of information on unpublished technical reports submitted by industry to EPA under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Studies on over 8,000 chemicals are categorized into three broad subject areas (health effects, environmental effects, and environmental fate). Searches can be conducted using these subject areas plus additional indexing terms from the controlled vocabulary of testing protocol describing observations (e.g., species, duration of study, etc.). More detail on the TSCATS databases are provided in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, Volume 6, pp. 921-927 (l987).

The Geochemical Earth Reference Model (GERM) initiative has the goal of establishing a community consensus on a chemical characterization of the Earth. The third GERM Workshop was held in La Jolla, CA, USA to promote such a consensus and to aid in the establishment of a GERM reference model. Note that the Abstract Volume and the Keynote Summaries for this workshop are now available online. Also available are a new proposal on Geological Rock Archival by Goldstein & Melson and the Workshop Summary by Bebout et al. as published in the Geochemical News. March 06-09, 2001.

The World Data Centre for Greenhouse Gases (WDCGG) is one of the WDCs under the GAW programme. It serves to gather, archive and provide data on greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4, CFCs, N2O, surface ozone, etc.) and related gases (CO, NOx, SO2, VOC, etc.) in the atmosphere and ocean, as observed under GAW and other programmes.

TOXLINE is the National Library of Medicine's extensive collection of online bibliographic information covering the biochemical, pharmacological, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs and other chemicals. It contains more than 3 million bibliographic citations, almost all with abstracts and/or indexing terms and CAS Registry Numbers. TOXLINE references are drawn from various sources grouped into two major parts--TOXLINE Core and TOXLINE Special--both of which operate under versatile search engines offering a variety of search and display capabilities.

The Risk Assessment Information System
The RAIS contains Risk Assessment Tools and Information. The Risk Assessment Tools include: Risk-Based Preliminary Remediation Goal (PRG) calculations, a Toxicity data base, Risk Calculations, and Ecological Benchmarks. The Tools are designed for use at all DOE sites and can be customized for site-specific conditions. The RAIS also includes information, guidance, and risk results applicable to the Oak Ridge Reservation.
The database of chemical-specific toxicity values contains the human health toxicological information needed to perform risk evaluations and assessments. This database contains information taken from the United States Environmental Protection Agencys (EPAs) Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS ), the Health Effects Assessment Summary Tables (HEAST-rad HEAST-nonrad), EPA Provisional Peer Reviewed Toxicity Values (PPRTVs) Database, and other information sources. In this database, all information is referenced. Additionally, the database contains supplemental information which clarifies some issues.
