Smart Self-Assemblies Based on Surfactant-encapsulated Photoresponsive Polyoxometalate Complex
Smart POMs: A surfactant-encapsulated organic-grafted polyoxometalate (POM) is synthesized by grafting a photoresponsive azobenzene group to an Anderson-type POM cluster. Self-assemblies of the hybrid complexes exhibit photocontrolled reversible aggregation and morphological change as a result of photoisomerization-induced structural alternation (see figure).

Light-controlled smart nanotubes based on the orthogonal assembly of two homopolymers
Two homopolymers can orthogonally self-assemble into pseudocopolymer based on terminal host–guest interactions, and these supramolecular copolymers further fabricate one-dimensional nanotubes in water. By applying alternate UV/visible light, the aggregates can reversibly assemble and disassemble by means of the association and disassociation of active connection.

125. A smart pH responsive graphene/polyacrylamide complex via noncovalent interaction.
We report that the graphene sheets can be stably dispersed in water by hydrophobic interaction with polyacrylamide. Most interestingly, the resultant graphene–polyacrylamide complexes show a reversible pH responsive property although polyacrylamide itself does not possess such characteristics.
