Supramolecular Self-Assembly of Giant Polymer Vesicles With Controlled Size
An ill-defined hyperbranched multiarm copolymer (see picture) with a high hydrophilic fraction (>60?%) self-assembles in water to form giant polymer vesicles (branched polymersomes). The size of the branched polymersomes can be easily controlled by adjusting the hydrophilic fraction of the copolymer, with the average diameter of the larger branched polymersomes exceeding 100 μm.

A POSS-Based Supramolecular Amphiphile and Its Hierarchical Self-Assembly Behaviors
A polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS)-based supramolecular amphiphile is prepared from the host–guest inclusion complexation between a mono adamantane-functionalized POSS (AD-POSS) and a β-cyclodextrin oligomer (P(β-CD)). Assisted by the interface of H2O/toluene, the obtained supramolecular hybrids self-assemble into stable hollow nanospheres with thick walls. These hollow nanospheres...

A Linear-Hyperbranched Supramolecular Amphiphile and Its Self-Assembly into Vesicles with Great Ductility
A linear-hyperbranched
supramolecular amphiphile was synthesized through the noncovalent coupling of
adamantane-functionalized long alkyl chain (AD-Cn, n =
12, 18, 30) and hyperbranched polyglycerol grafted from β-cyclodextrin
(CD-g-HPG) by the specific AD/CD host–guest interactions. The obtained
supramolecular Cn-b-HPGs self-assembled into
unilamellar vesicles with great ductil...

Supramolecular self-assembly and controllable drug release of thermosensitive hyperbranched multiarm copolymers
A novel temperature-responsive hyperbranched multiarm copolymer with a
hydrophobic hyperbranched poly(3-ethyl-3-(hydroxymethyl) oxetane) (HBPO)
core and thermosensitive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) arms was synthesized via the atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP)
of NIPAM monomers from a hyperbranched HBPO macroinitiator. It was
found that HBPO-star-PNIPAM self-assembled into mu...

SciChinaChem--Understanding enzyme catalysis by means of supramolecular artificial enzymes
Enzymes are biomacromolecules responsible for the abundant chemical biotransformations that sustain life. Recently, biochemists have discovered that multiple conformations and numerous parallel paths are involved during the processes catalyzed by enzymes. It is plausible that the entire macromolecular scaffold is involved in catalysis via cooperative motions that result in incredible catalytic eff...

SoftMatter--Dual stimuli-responsive supramolecular pseudo-polyrotaxane hydrogels
THPP-(PEG2000-BA)4, a four-branched molecule end-decorated with benzaldehyde (BA), was successfully designed and synthesized. It can form physical pseudo-polyrotaxane (PPR) hydrogels in the presence of α-cyclodextrins (α-CDs). The branched structure of the THPP core promotes gel formation with a small amount of host and guest. Moreover, these resulting hydrogels are dual stimuli-responsive, whic...

pH-Controlled Reversible Formation of a Supramolecular Hyperbranched Polymer Showing Fluorescence Switching
A pi-conjugated AB(2) monomer 1 with a dibenzo[24]crown-8 (DB24C8) ring and two secondary amine centres has been synthesised. Treatment of a solution of 1 in dichloromethane with trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) leads to protonation of the amine groups, and then the DB24C8 rings are threaded by the dialkylammonium ion centres of other monomer molecules, leading to the formation of a supramolecular hyp...

Heterogeneity, segmental and hydrogen bond dynamics, and aging of supramolecular self-healing rubber
In recent years, self-healing materials have attracted increasing attention due to their potentially spontaneous self-repairing ability after mechanical damage. Here, we focus on a supramolecular self-healing rubber based on fatty acids following the work of Leibler and co-workers. We study the heterogeneous network structure and hydrogen bond dynamics as well as its significant aging properties u...

Supramolecular Nanoparticles Generated by the Self-assembly of Polyrotaxanes for Anti-tumor Drug Delivery
A new approach of fabricating supramolecular nanoparticles generated by self-assembly polyrotaxanes for antitumor drug delivery has been reported. Cinnamic-acid-modified poly(ethylene glycol) chains were threaded in α-cyclodextrins to form polyrotaxanes. The polyrotaxanes self-assembled supramolecular nanoparticles. The morphology of the nanoparticles was changed from nanovesicle to micelle ...
