JMolCat-Chem--A study of biomimetic system: Exploration of factors modulating the catalytic capacity of glutathione peroxidase mimics
A cyclodextrin-based artificial glutathione peroxidase (GPx) system, which was designed to carry single or double binding sites, has been investigated by observing the recognition features of these mimics. The GPx mimics exhibited high catalytic activities mainly due to the substrate recognition generated by hydrophobic driving force. The different recognition mechanisms led to quite different cat...

[Macro. Chem. Phys.] Catalytic Precision Polymerization: Rare Earth Metal-Mediated Synthesis of Homopolymers, Block Copolymers, and Polymer Brushes
Recent studies have shown that rare earth metal-mediated group transfer polymerization
(REM-GTP) can be applied to a variety of polar monomers, besides the classic (meth)-
acrylates or (meth)acrylamides, giving access to new polymeric materials. This article
highlights progress in this new fi eld and gives a current overview of the initiation and
propagation of vinylphosphonates, the extension to ...

Chem Commun, 2014, 50, 12022: Nanoslitting Phase-separated Block Copolymers by Solvent Swelling for Membranes with Ultrahigh Flux and Sharp Selectivity
Long and narrow slit-shaped pores are predicted to have enhanced permeation and selectivity. However, it remains an unsolved challenge for the massive production of slit-shaped pores with sub-100 nm pore widths. We report, for the first time, the efficient production of membranes containing densely packed slitted pores with pore width < 15 nm from block copolymers (BCPs). Such membranes exhibit...

[J. Mater. Chem. C] Magnetoceramic Nanocrystals from a Bulk Pyrolysis of Hyperbranched Poly(ferrocenyl)borocarbosilanes
We report a novel strategy to synthesize nanostructured magnetoceramics via a direct bulk pyrolysis of hyperbranched polycarbosilanes without any assistance of nanoscaled templates. The hyperbranched polyferrocenyl(boro)carbosilanes (hb-PBCS) were synthesized via a convenient A2+B3 strategy. After the pyrolysis of hb-PBCS under a nitrogen atmosphere at 1100 C, iron silicide nanocry...

[Chem. Comm.] Visible light induced fast synthesis of protein-polymer conjugates: controllable polymerization and protein activity
Herein visible
light is used to induce RAFT polymerization from protein for preparing
protein-polymer conjugates at ambient temperature. Polymerization is
fast and can be conveniently controlled with irradiation time. By
site-specific polymerization of NIPAm to protein, the protein activity
is maintained and in certain cases it presents an efficient
on-off-switchable property.

[Polym Chem] Novel phthalocyanine and PEG-methacrylates based temperature-responsive polymers for targeted photodynamic therapy
A novel multi-targeting nanocarrier (SiPc-polymer) for photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been successfully polymerized via the incorporation of silicon(IV) phthalocyanine dichloride (SiPcCl2) to the thermoresponsive PEG-methacrylates based polymers. The resulting SiPc-polymer was characterized by1H NMR spectroscopy, GPC, UV-Vis and elemental analysis. The lower critical solution temperature (LCST) ...

[Polym Chem] Glycopolymer-coated gold nanorods synthesised by a one pot copper(0) catalyzed tandem RAFT/click reaction
Side-chain functionalized glycopolymers have been successfully prepared in a well-controlled manner via a copper(0)-catalyzed one-pot reaction combining living radical
polymerisation and ‘click chemistry’. The polymerisation was confirmed
by the first-order kinetic plots, the linear relationships between
molecular weights and the monomer conversions while keeping relatively
narrow polydisp...

[Polym Chem] A novel approach to synthesize polymers for potential photodynamic therapy: from benzenedinitrile to phthalocyanine
Benzenedinitrile, a
precursor for the synthesis of phthalocyanine, was incorporated into a
methacrylate monomer, 2-methyl-acrylic acid
6-(3,4-dicyano-phenoxy)-hexyl ester (MADCE). The benzenedinitrile
monomer was homo-polymerized, chain-extended and copolymerized with
oligo(ethylene glycol) methyl methacrylate (OEGMEMA) via the
reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) metho...

[Chem. Eur. J.] Chemoselective Phototransformation of C-H Bond on Polymer Surface via a Novel Photoinduced Cerium Recycling Redox
It is
generally accepted that Ce4+ is unable to directly oxidize inert
alkyl C-H bond without the assistance of adjacent polar groups. Herein we
demonstrated in our newly developed confined photochemical reaction system,
this recognition might be challenged. As we found, when a thin layer of CeCl3/HCl
aqueous solution was applied onto polymeric substrate, and under UV
irradiation, Ce3+ was firstly...

[Chem Commun] Microcontact Printing Graphene Oxide Nanosheet for Fabricating Patterned Polymer Brushes
A robust strategy is developed to fabricate micro-patterned graphene oxide (GO) films on the hydroxylated surface via micro-contact printing induced supramolecular self-assemble of multiple hydrogen-bond formation between GO nanosheet and silicon substrate. Existing photo active sites on the surface of GO allows the further amplification of GO in chemical functions to grow polymer brushes via self...
