[2012][Adv. Mater., 2012, 24: 1582–1588]Near–Infrared Thermochromic Diazapentalene Dyes
A series of 2,5-diazapentalene containing dyes with tunable energy gaps are visible and near-infrared halochromic towards various acids and their protonated counterparts represent a new class of thermochromic materials with the near-infrared absorption being switched on at room temperature and off above 50 °C.

(Adv. Mater.) Functional Fibers with Unique Wettability Inspired by Spider Silk
关键字:bioinspired, Function Spider silk has been an attractive biopolymer since ancient times. Learning from both its excellent properties and spinning process, silk provides people with inspiration to develop functional fi bers. Recently, inspired by shiny water droplets on a spider’s web, we revealed that the capture silk of the cribellate spider would deform to have a special periodic spindle-knots structure and hen...

75. [Adv Func Mater] Tough adhesion of nucleobase-tackifed gels in diverse solvents
Adhesive gels have attracted increasing attention in biological medicine and industrial fields. However, it remains a huge challenge to achieve robust adhesion in various non-polar and polar solvents. Herein, a tough nucleobase-tackified adhesive gel was successfully fabricatedand exhibited strong adhesion to variousmaterials in diversesolvents, including hexane, chloroform, dimethyl sulfoxide, et...

[Adv. Mater. Interfaces] Understanding Biomolecular Crystallization on Amyloid-like Superhydrophobic Biointerface
The crystallization of proteins and peptides at an interface is an important process in natural and synthetic systems. However, a comprehensive understanding about this process is extremely rare, and the screening on crystallization conditions guided by current knowledge is often empirical and requires laborious work. This report addresses a new crystallization pathway that a superhydrophobic pr...

2017-Adv Mater:A Novel Design of Multi-mechanoresponsive and Mechanically Strong Hydrogels
A newly developed poly(AM-co-MA/SP) (polyacrylamide-co-methyl acrylate/spiropyran) hydrogel crosslinked by spiropyran (SP) mechanophore demonstrates its multi-stimuli-responsive and mechanically strong properties. The hydrogels not only exhibit thermo-, photo-, and mechano-induced color changes, but also achieve super-strong mechanical properties (tensile stress of 1.45 MPa, tensile strain o...

Adv. Mater. Interfaces, 2014, 1, 1400009. Design of Multi-Stage Thermal Responsive Wettable Surface
A multi-stage temperature responsive wettable surface composed of poly(N-isopropylmethacrylamide)-block-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPMAM-b-PNIPAm) is fabricated on a structure-enhanced silicon substrate by atom transfer radical polymerization. Detailed AFM investigation indicates that the adhesion force on the prepared surface decreases with the increase of temperature, which sh...

Adv. Mater., 2006, 18, 432–436. Dual-Responsive Surfaces That Switch between Superhydrophilicity and Superhydro- phobicity
ABSTRACT A dual-stimuli-responsive surface with tunable wettability, reversible switching between superhydrophilicity and superhydrophobicity, and responsivity to temperature and pH were investigated. Reversible switching was found over both a narrow temperature range of 10° C and wide pH range of about 10. Dual responsivity was found to be the combined effect of the chemical variation of the sur...
