High-efficiency loading in small mesopores (2–3 nm) forming a matrix type controlled drug delivery nanosystem
Herein a high-efficiency controlled release nanosystem for fluoroquinolonehydrochlorides was established by a characteristicvacuum-recrystal loaded process based on small pore mesoporousMCM-41. The system exhibited great drug loading capacity (62.31%),matrix type sustained-release behavior (5 days) and excellent biocompatibility in vitro.

Rattle-type microspheres as support of tiny sized gold nanoparticles for high efficient catalysis efficient catalysis
SiO2/poly(ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate) (PEGDMA) rattletype microspheres loaded with tiny sized gold nanoparticles (B2 nm) were prepared through a facile and novel method. Catalyzed reduction of 4-nitrophenol with NaBH4 demonstrated that this rattle-type microsphere possessed high catalytic efficiency.

Natural polyphenol- stabilised highly crosslinked UHMWPE with high mechanical properties and low wear for joint implants
Radiation crosslinked ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with high mechanical strength, wear resistance, and oxidative stability is critical for the long term performance and life span of the joint implants based on crosslinked UHMWPE. The use of polyphenols are potential alternatives for the stabilisation of highly crosslinked UHMWPE for joint arthroplasty.
