38.Two Strategies to precisely tune the mechanical properties of plant oil-derived epoxy resins
During recent years, the development of mechanically robust epoxy resins from natural abundant plant oils is gaining more and more attention.
Herein, two strategies were developed to precisely tune the microstructure of
plant oil-derived epoxy polymers and mechanical properties of their thermosets.
In strategy 1, plant oil-derived epoxy polymers (EPs) with varied densities of
epo...

Bio-oil production from hydrogenation liquefaction of rice straw over metal (Ni, Co, Cu)-modified CeO2 catalysts
This paper describes catalytic hydrogenation liquefaction of rice straw over metal (Ni, Co, and Cu)-modified CeO2 catalysts for bio-oil production. The results show that the highest rice straw conversion (89.08%) and bio-oil yield (66.7%) were obtained over Ni/CeO2 catalyst. The bio-oil contains mainly phenols, high-value-added, and widely used chemicals. Furthermore, metal-modified CeO2 catalys...

Catalytic hydroliquefaction of rice straw for bio-oil production using Ni/CeO2 catalysts
A series of Ni/CeO2 catalysts were synthesized via a simple one-pot hydrothermal method and characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, EDX, EDX mapping, Raman, H-2-TPR, BET, XPS, TGA and ICP-MS. Their catalytic performances were systematically evaluated in hydroliquefaction of rice
straw. The impact of reaction temperature, reaction time, H-2 pressure and Ni/Ce molar ratios on product yields and distrib...

【Applied Physics A】Efficient growth of millimeter-long few-walled carbon nanotube forests and their oil sorption
Millimeter-long few-walled carbon nanotube (FWNT) forests were grown by a water-assisted chemical vapor deposition method. In only 10 min, the forests grew to over 1.2 mm in height, with a growth yield around 2.76±0.30 mg/cm2. Transmission electron microscopy observation and Raman analysis showed high crystallinity of the nanotubes. A carbon purity better than 98.8 wt% was further determined by...

36. Plant Oil and Lignin-Derived Elastomers via Thermal Azide?Alkyne Cycloaddition Click Chemistry
The developments of sustainable elastomers from natural biomass to compete fossil fuel-derived elastomers are gaining increasing attention during recent years. In this work, elastomer derived from soybean oil and lignin was developed via a metal-free thermal azide?alkyne cycloaddition reaction (TAAC). Azide-containing polymers derived from soybean oil and alkyne-functionalized lignin were first ...

【24 Colloids and Surfaces A】 Rheological properties of ginger-like amorphous carbon filled silicon oil suspensions
The rheological properties of amorphous carbon suspensions have attracted great attention, but they are still not fully understood due to the non-equilibrium nature of the structure. In this work, the linear and nonlinear rheological properties of ginger-like amorphous carbon (GC) filled silicon oil suspensions are investigated. The percolation threshold of GC/silicon oil suspensions is 1.2 wt.% b...

33. Mechanically strong plant oil-derived thermoplastic polymers prepared via cellulose graft strategy
Abstract: The design of polymers from renewable plant oils is gaining more attention within sustainable development. Most plant oils based thermoplastic polymers exhibit poor mechanical properties. In this paper, we reported the mechanically strong cellulose-graft-soybean oil copolymers, which combined two natural biomasses in one. The soybean oil-based monomers with secondary amide groups (SOM1...
