Herein, we report the unprecedented properties of foamfilms o btained with an ionic liquid. Centimeter-scale foam films of nonionic surfactants were prepared by using 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([EMIM][BF4]) as a solvent, and they were transferred onto submillimeter-sized holes. The films spontaneously became thinner, and
finally reversed bilayers solvated with the ionic liquid were left in the holes. The obtained films showed superior thermal stability as compared to that of the aqueous system.
