Good news come in succession

In this fall season, for professor Yang Guang’s team, good news come in succession.

The team’s research——< Controllable in situ bio-assembly of nano-cellulose artificial skin materials> obtained Independent Innovation Cross Fund of HUST. In 2007, professor Yang’ project has gotten the Cross Fund for the first time, and established long-term and stable cooperation with professor Xiang Jizhou of Department of Pharmacology, Tongji Medical College and professor Zhou Pin of Institute of Organ Transplantation. This year, we still cooperate with them for the newly approved Cross Project. The nano-cellulose artificial skin materials could be in situ bio-assembled, via molecular template, microflow-control, and magnetic-control fine groove structures and combine with bioactive polymers, special pharmacy, growth factors and active cell layer.

Undergraduate Zhang Lei’ project < Effect of surface modification to magnetic microbial > was approved as students technological innovation projects of HUST, under the guidance of professor Yang Guang. It is one of the 22 key projects. This project is based on Wang Daming’ research——. Wang’ research has confirmed the feasibility of giving magnetotactic to microbiology artificially, and Zhang’s project is mainly about improvement of modification materials and methods. Wang’ project was awarded the Second Prize of National ‘Challenge Cup’, and applied for a patent.

In addition to a series of achievements in research, in teaching, professor Yang has been awarded the second prize of Teaching Excellence Award of HUST, for her outstanding teaching results. The Courses professor Yang is teaching are: “Enzyme Engineering( for undergraduate )”, “The molecular structure of biological materials ( for undergraduate )”, “surface and interface of biomaterial ( for postgraduate )”, “Biological Engineering Analysis ( for postgraduate )”. Besides, she has participated in teaching the following courses for postgraduate: “Frontier Life Sciences”, “Polymer materials for medical use”, “Advances in Biochemical Engineering”, “Principles of Biological Engineering”.

All these grants and honors are not only the recognition of work, but also power to continuously forward. On this basis, we believe our team will obtain more and better results in future.
