Griselda Barrera Galland, born in Uruguay, is professor in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Chemistry Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, in Porto Alegre, Brazil, since 1990.She was head of the Organic Chemistry Department between 2007 and2011. She obtained the degrees of Bachelor''''''''''''''''s in Chemistry in 1979 and Chemical Engineering in 1980 from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She obtained the Master in Chemistry (1989) and Ph.D. in Materials Science (1996) from the Federal University of Rio Grande doSul. She is researcher of the National Council forScientific and Technological Development(CNPq), Brazil.She has experience in the area of polymers, acting mainly on the following topics: synthesis, characterization and properties of polyethylene, polypropylene and poly-1-olefins, synthesis and characterization of catalysts for polyolefins (metallocenes and post-metallocene, homogeneous and supported), copolymerization, terpolymerization, nanocomposites and NMR of polyolefins. She has published 89 scientific papers in indexed journals and has many collaborations with other research groups from USA, Europe and Latin America.
