The carbonized layers formed on the surfaces of the barium haxe-ferrite nanoparticles based on the heat treatment of barium haxe-ferrite/polyaniline nano-composites. The surface carbonized layers consisted of the amorphous carbon with the thicknesses ranging from 10 to 30 nm. The existence of the surface carbonized layers on the magnetic ferrite nanoparticles could alter the interfacial and dielectric loss. By changing the thickness of the carbonized layer, the impendence match was refined and the fine microwave absorbing properties were achieved. The result indicated that the design and optimization of sophisticated interfacial structures would provide a potential way to develop multi-phase EM wave absorbers with better performances.
