Research Experience
1.       Controlling crystallization of pharmaceuticals
Developing new methods to prepare desired drug polymorphs and/or to find new crystalline forms
2.       Research on elastomeric biodegradable polymers having nitric oxide function
Poly(ester/ether) biodegradable elastomers that can be coated on stainless steel substrates without forming cracks upon stretching and relaxation of the stainless steel substrates were synthesized. To these elastomers were successfully attached nitric oxide functionalities. Promising results were obtaining in animal tests and we expect these biomaterials will be used in cardiovascular surgery.
3.       The research of novel hydrogels
Novel classes of dextran/polylactone–based biodegradable hydrogels were synthesized for drug delivery applications. The swelling, morphology and structure have been examined.
4.       Synthesis, characterization and application of biodegradable polymers
Three kinds of biodegradable polymeric materials, poly(ester/ether) random and block copolymers were synthesized and characterized. These biomaterials with excellent biodegradability and mechanical properties have been used as repair materials for damaged nerves.
5.      Synthesis, characterization and properties of amphiphilic block copolymers (Doctoral Dissertation)
Amphiphilic block copolymers, poly(butylacrylate)-block-poly(acrylic acid), poly(butylacrylate) -block- poly(methacrylic acid), poly(butylacrylate) -block- poly(acrylamide), and poly(ethylene oxide) -block- poly(butylacrylate) were synthesized and characterized, and used as compatibilizer in blending rubber and resin.
6.       Synthesis and properties of chiral compounds (Master's Thesis)
More than thirty new chiral organic compounds, N- acyl -thioxothiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid and Its derivates, were synthesized and were used as chiral reagents for acylations and as chiral recognition elements for d,l-amino acid and d,l-amine.
