Theselectionofrawmaterialsisoneofthemostimportantstepsintexileprocessplanning,whichstilldependsontheexpert’sknowledgeandexperience.However,withtraditionaltechniques,amassofcomputationhastoberepeatedandtheoptimizationofprocessparametersisalsogettingmoreandmoredifficult.Recently,Case-basedreasoning(CBR)andartificialneuralnetworks(ANN)areallfastemergingartificialintelligence(AI)techniques.Thisstudypresentsanovelintelligentdecisionmodel(IDM)simulatinghowdomainexpertsroutinelysolvetheproblemsinworstedprocess,byintegralapplicationofCBRandANNtechniques.Amongthem,fromrichexistingprocessdatabase,CBRisabletoretrieveandrecommendthesimilarprocesscaseasaprocesstemplate；then,bymeansofmodificationontheseparametersintheexistingcases,ANNmodelisusedtopredicttheyarnqualityandmakethebestprocessdecision.Thebasicconcept,modelarchitecture,experimentsandmethodsarepresentedinthispaper,respectively.AnappliedcasewithIDMisgiventodemonstratethatthebestprocessdecisioncanbemadeandimportantprocessparameterssuchasforrawmaterialoptimized.
