Thereleasingpropertiesofnegativeairionsoftourmanecontainedpoly(ethyleneterephthalate)(PET)fibersuerfrictionaltestingconditionswereinvestigtedinthisstudy.Itisinterestingtonotethatthemaximumconcentrationofnegativeairions(CionemittedfromPET/tourmalinefiberspecimenreached5100particles/ccasthetourmalinecontentinPET/tourmalinefiberspecimen(i.e.PET2specimen)approached2wt%.InordertounderstandtheinterestingnegativeairionpropertiesofPET/tourmalinefiberspecimens,ScanningElectrcMicroscope(SEM)morphology,EnergyDispersiveX-rays(EDX)analysisofthetourmalinepwderandwideangleX-raydiffraction(WAXD)analysisofthePET/tourmalinefiberspecimenswereerformed,andthefiberspecimens‘mechanicalpropertieswerealsodetermined.PossiblereasonsaccountfortheinterestingnegativeairionpropertiesofthePET/tourmalinefiberspecimensisdiscussed.
