Core-shellfluoroacrylatecopolymerlatexwassynthesizedviasemi-continuousseedemulsionpolymerization.Ethylacrylate(EA)wasusedforthecore,andmethylmethacrylate(MMA),butylacrylate(BA),methacrylateacid(MAA),andhexafluorobutylmethacrylate(HFBM)wasusedtoconstitutetheshell.TheyieldedlatexwasanalyzedbyFouriertransforminfrared(FTIR).Theparticlesizeandstructureweredeterminedbyparticlesizedistribution(PSD)anddifferentialscanningcalorimeter(DSC),respectively.Theresultsshowedthatlatexparticlehadcore-shellstructure,andfluorinehavebeenintroducedintocopolymer.Zetapotentialofthelatexandcontactanglesofthecastfilmindicatedthatemulsionstabilityandfilmhydrophobicityincreasedwiththecontentofthefluoroacrylatemonomer.Fluorinetendedtolocateonsurfaceofcastfilmofthecopolymerlatex,whichresultedinthathydrophobicityofonesidewashigherthantheotherside.
