Theappearance,microstructureandpropertiesoftwodifferentisotacticpolypropylenemandrelpipes,Ziegler-Natta(ZNPP)andmetallocene(MAOPP)types,aftertheirservicewereinvestigated.Althoughtheinnerwallturnedwhiteandthedegreeofcrystallizationofthewallwasslightlyincreased,thecrystalmodificationstillmaintainedthealphaformforMAOPPpipes.Thedegreeofcrystallizationoftheinnerwallgainedmuchandthealphamodificationofthewallwaschangedintobetaonetosomeextent,butnoappearancechangehappenedatallforZNPPpipes.Theaccelerationfatigueresultsindicatedthat,atinitialfatigueperiod,bothcrystallizationandtensilestrengthofZNPPbecamelargepossiblytheresidualstressformedduringprocessingwaseliminated.Conclusively,thechangesofmicrostructureandappearancedon’tnecessarilysignposttheaggregationofthepipeproperties,andthelifeexpectanceshouldbeestimatedbasedonscientificdatanotonappearancevariation.
