Aseriesofpolyurethaneurea(PUU)aqueousdispersionsmodifiedwithα,ω-dihydroxypoly[(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)methylsiloxane](PTFPMS)wereprepared.Theseanionic-typeaqueousdispersionswerestableatambienttemperatureandshowedexcellenthigh-temperatureandfreeze/thawstability.Fortheseaqueousdispersions,thesurfacetensiondecreasedasthePTFPMScontentincreased,howevertheparticlesizeincreasedatfirstthendecreased.ThePUUfilmmodifiedwithsmallamountofPTFPMS(5wt%)exhibitedexcellentwaterproofperformance.Theamountofwaterabsorptionwasaslowas4.9wt%,andthecontactangleofwateronthefilmsurfacewasashighas90.TheexperimentalresultsshowedthattherewashighdegreeofhydrogenbondingforureacarbonylgroupsinthePTFPMS-modifiedsystem,andtheincreasedmicrophaseseparationdegreebetweenthehardandsoftsegmentsresultedinsignificantenhancementofthemechanicalpropertiesofthemodifiedPUUfilms.
