Fine dispersion or full exfoliation of nanoparticles in matrix is one of the most important
factors to achieve high performance polymer nanocomposites. In the past years, our research group
is making efforts to realize homogeneous dispersion (and high orientation) of carbon nanomaterials
(e.g., carbon nanotubes, graphene) in aqueous and organic media as well as polymer matrices by
using “hybridization” approach via effective combination (through π-π stacking or electrostatic
interaction, hydrogen bonding, etc) among different kinds of nanoscale building blocks (such as
carbon nanotubes, graphene, clay, layered double hydroxide).
