Inordertodescribethecross-sectionshapeofprofiledpolyacrylonitrilefiber(PAN)indifferentaspects,fourshapefactors,i.e.Flatness(FL),Roundness(R),Concavity(CO)andAsymmetry(AS)wereproposedandcalculatedusingcross-sectiongeometricalparametersdeterminedbymicroscopyandimageanalysis.Thecriterionstorecognisethecross-sectionshapeweregivenandemployedtoclassfrofiledfibersandtomeasuretheproportionofoneclasstototalfibers.
