Polyetherbasedpolyurethane(PU)elastomersareconsideredtobemadeimplantabledevices,butthepolyethersoftsegmentsinPUaresusceptibletooxidationanddegradationinvivo.EnhancementofbiostabilityforPUwasexpectedtobeaccomplishedbypartiallysubstitutingpolysiloxanessegmentsinPUmacromolecularchains.However,theloweringofmechanicalpropertiesforthepolysiloxanemodifiedPUaregenerallyobserved.
