Polymericnanocompositeshavebeenanareaofintenseindustrialandacademicresearchforthepast20years.Nomatterthemeasure-articles,patents,orR&Dfunding-effortsinthisaspecthavebeenexponentiallygrowingworldwideoverthelasttenyears.Withrespecttomanufacturingofpolymericnanocomposites,directincorporationofinorganicnano-scalebuildingblocksintopolymersrepresentsatypicalway.Themostimportantissueofthistechniqueliesinsurfacemodificationofthenano-fillers.Itisabletoincreasehydrophobicityofthefillers,enhanceinterfacialadhesionviachainentanglementorchemicalbonding,andeliminatetheloosenstructureoffilleragglomerates.Thepresentpaperreviewstherecentachievementsinnanoparticles/polymercompositesacquiredintheauthors’lab,includingthespecificsurfacepre-treatmentapproachesandtheirapplications.Especially,effectsofthetreatednanoparticlesonmechanicalpropertiesofthecompositesarehighlighted. |
