Wereporthereinauniquemeanstodecorateblockcopolymer(BCP)onindividualcarbonnanotubes(CNTs)usingacontrolledpolymerheteroepitaxymethod.One-dimensional(1D)CNTsweresurfacemodificatedwiththeBCPPVCH-PE-PVCH,resultinginananohybridepitaxybrushstructure,whichconsistsofacentralCNTanddisc-shapedfolded-chainlamellaeformedbycrystallizablePEblocksinBCPswithuncrystallizableblockssurroundthem.ThelamellaecrystalsorientedperpendicularlytothecentralCNT,andthePEchainsorientperpendicularlytothesurfaceofthelamellaecrystals.AddingmoreBCPtotheBCP/CNTnanohybridepitaxybrushsuspensionandfurthercrystallizationatthecrystallizationtemperatureleadedtotheformationofananohybridepitaxycylinder. |
