Alignednanofibrousscaffoldsofsilkfibroin(SF)andpoly(L-lacticacid-co-ε-caprolactone)(P(LLA-CL))blendswiththeweightratioof25:75werefabricatedusing1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propanol(HFIP)asasolventviaelectrospinningandthenreeledintoalignednerveguidanceconduits(NGC)topromotenerveregeneration.TheNGCwasusedasabridgeimplantedacrossa10mmdefectinthesciaticnerveofrats.Theoutcomeintermsofregeneratednerveat4and8weekswasevaluatedbyacombinationofelectrophysiologicalassessmentandhistologicalanalysis.AlltheresultsclarifiedthatthealignedSF/P(LLA-CL)nanofibersNGCcouldpromoteperipheralnerveregenerationsignificantlybetterthanthealignedP(LLA-CL)NGC.
