Webuiltanewstrategyinsynthesisofmetaloxides,whichstartsfromwetchemistryroutetoformametalpolyacrylateprecursorundermildandsimplepreparationconditions.ThemethodiscompatibletoawiderangeofmetalslikeZn,Mg,Snforproductionoftheircorrespondentoxidesormixed-metaloxidenanoparticleswithhomogeneousmorphologyandprecisestoichiometry.Zincisselectedasthemodelsystemtoproveoftheconceptofthestrategyduetothesimplecrystalstructureofzincoxideanditsincreasinginterestsinindustrialapplicationandfundamentalresearch.ThezincmineralizedpolymerprecursorisamorphousasconfirmedbyX-raydiffraction(XRD)patterns.Dynamiclightscattering(DLS)andviscometryaswellasUVresultsrevealthatzinccationsmainlycomplextosinglepolyacrylatechain.Thetransformationfrompolymerprecursorviadegradation,evolution,crystallizationintoZnOcrystalduringpyrolysisisinvestigatedbymeansofXRD,TG-MSandUV.Theas-synthesizedZnOismainlyindividualparticleswithdiameterabout40nmfromelectronmicroscopy.Effectsofvariousparametersliketemperature,polymermolecularweightandnucleationdensityontheZnOmorphologywerestudiedanditsopticalpropertieswereinvestigatedbyFTIR,fluorescenceandelectronparamagneticresonance(EPR).
