LongglassfiberreinforcedPBTcomposites(LGF/PBT)werepreparedbyanovelprocess,inwhichreinforcingcontinuousglassfiberwasimpregnatedbymeltingPBToligomer,andcuttinginto6mmlongpelletsaftercooling.ThenthepelletswereinsitupolymerizedinsolidstatetoimprovethemolecularweightofPBT.ThegraftingreactionofPBTmacromolecularchainonthesurfaceofreinforcingglassfibertookplaceduringtheinsitusolid-statepolycondensation(SSP).ThereinforcingglassfiberafterremovingungraftedPBTwasinvestigatedbyscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM),differentialscanningcalorimetric(DSC).TheinformationofthesetestingtechniquesgaveaseriesofevidencetoprovethepresenceofgraftedPBTlayeronthesurfaceofglassfibertreatedwithsilanecouplingagent.
