Polyamicacid(PAA)fiberswerepreparedviatraditionalwetspinningprocesswithmethanolasacoagulationbath.Theas-spunPAAfibersshowedgoodmechanicalpropertiesthatthetensilestrengthandtheinitialmodulusofthefibersreached2.21cN/dtand40.7cN/dt,respectively.TheSEMphotographsalsoindicatedthatthefibershadthemostsolidmorphologywiththeheart-shapedcross-sections.Twoprocesseswereappliedtopreparepolyimide(PI)fibers.Onewasdirectheat-treatmentwiththefibersundergoingacertainprocessunder370℃intheN2atmosphere；theotherwaschemical/heat-treatmentinwhichthefiberdippedintothechemicalimidizationagents,andthenfollowedtheheat-treatment.Incomparingthetwomethods,solidPIfiberswereobtainedbythedirectheat-treatment,whilethechemical/heat-treatmentcausedvoidsinthefibers.Correspondingly,thePIfibersobtainedbythedirectheat-treatmentshowedbettermechanicalpropertieswiththetensilestrengthandtheinitialmodulusincreasingto2.8cN/dtand43cN/dt,respectively.
