In-situhybridcompositesofthermotropicliquidcrystallinepolymer(TLCP),unsaturatedpolyester(UP)andglassfiber(GF)havebeensuccessfullypreparedbymeltmixingtechnology.Thethermalandmechanicalpropertiesofin-situcompositeshavebeenstudiedbydifferentialscanningcalorimetry(DSC),thermogravimetricanalysis(TGA)andstaticmechanicsanalysisrespectively.Thefracturesurfaceswereobservedbyscanningelectronmicroscope(SEM).TheresultsshowedthattheimpactstrengthandthebendingstrengthandmodulusofthecompositestendtoincreasewithincreasingTLCPcontentsforthecompositescontainingTLCPcontent≤5wt%.DSCandTGAindicatedthatthethermalstabilityofthecompositeswhentheTLCPcontentwas2.5wt%arehigherthanthatthecompositescontainingTLCPcontent>2.5wt%.SEManalysisrevealedthattheinterfacialadhesionofcompositeswith2.5%TLCPisbetterthanthecompositeswithoutTLCP.
