ThispaperdealswiththedevelopmentandcharacterisationofCR-compoundsfilledwithsiliceousearthinordertoenhancethermalaswellasmechanicalproperties.Duetotheuniquemixtureofcorpuscularnaturalsilicaandlamellarkaoliniteparticles,siliceousearthcanbeuseduptohighfillercontentswhileprocessibilityofthecompoundsremainsonanacceptablelevel.Highfillercontentisneededtoimprovethermalconductivitybutunfortunately,dampingofthecompoundsisalsoincreasingwithincreaseoffillercontent.Sinceseveralyears,silane-modifiedsilicaissuccessfullyusedintyretreadcompoundstoreducerollingresistance.Asimilartechnologyisappliedinthisworktoreducelossfactor(tanδ)ofsiliceousearthfilledCR-compoundsandthus,heatbuild-upoftherollercoatings.
