Thisstudyevaluatesdegradationkineticparameters,i.e.activationenergy(Ea),pre-exponentialfactor(A)anddegradationmechanism(f(x》ofpolybenzoxazine(PBZ)woodviadistributedactivationenergymodel(DAEM),Coats-Redfernmethodaswellasintegralmasterplotmethod.HighlyfilledPBZat75wt%ofwoodflourpreparedasreportedinourpreviousworkcl]wasemployedforthekineticstudyofitsthermaldegradationbehavior.Theweightlossofsamplesasfunctiontemperatureusingnon-isothermalthermogravimetricanalyzer(TGA)modelTGA/SDTA85lefrom300Ct09000Catthreedifferentheatingratesof5,10,and200C.min-lunderaconstantflowofnitrogenat100mlmin-lwasobtainedandanalyzed.ThePBZwoodcompositeexhibitedfourstagesofthermaldegradationprocesseswhileonlythreestageswereobservedforthethermaldegradationprocessesofthePBZmatrixandthewoodflourfiller.ThevaluesofthePBZwoodcompositeEaandAwere146-199kJ.mol-land1.86X10lo一4.88X10lomin-l,respectively.Furthermore,thedegradationreactionmechanismexaminedbyintegralmasterplotmethodofalldegradationstagesofthecompositewasfoundtoberandomnucleationandsubsequentgrowth(Fi).AmultistagethermaldegradationofthePBZwoodcompositewasobserved.Theactivationenergyofeachdegradationstagewascalculatedbydistributedactivationenergymodel.Fromtheaboveanalysis,thenon-isothermaldegradationkineticofthecompositewasbestdescribedbykineticequationsofnth-orderi.e.Fnmechanism.
