A strong anti-ice property of nanohairs over micro-ratchet surfaces isobserved. A long freezing delay ofmore than 185 min is achieved fora droplet on the nanohairs over ratchet structure with a period of290 mm under -10 degree Celsius, which is attributed to the effective cooperationof the nano- and microstructures.
