Thepulpfiberisgraftedbycationicmonomerofdiallyldimethylammoniumchlorideundermicrowaveirradiation.Effectsofmonomerdosage,initiatordosage,pulpfiberconsistencyandmicrowaveirradiationtimeonpulpfibergraftingratioandthecationicdegreeareinvestigated,andthemechanicalpropertiesofhand-sheetmadefromthegraftedpulpfiberaretested.Itisshownthatthegraftingratioandthecationicdegreeofthepulpfiberincreasefirstlyanddecreaseafterwardswiththeincreaseofmonomerdosage,initiatordosage,pulpfiberconsistencyandmicrowaveirradiationtime.Highqualitycationicpulpcanbeobtainedundertheoptimizedreactionconditionsofmonomerdosage0.9%,initiatordosage0.6%,pulpfiberconsistency12%andmicrowaveirradiationtime3min.Thetensileindex,theburstindexandthetearindexofthehand-sheetsmadefromgraftedpulpfiberimprovesignificantly.
