Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate)(PHBV)issynthesizedbymicrobialfermentationofaliphaticthermoplasticpolyester.Ithasgoodbiodegradabilityandbiocompatibility.PHBVmicrosphereshavelotsofpotentialapplicationsandvalueinthenano-bio-medicineandcosmetics.Inthispaper,thePHBV/Celluloseacetatebutyrate(CAB)blendedsystemwasspunintofibers.ItisshownthatthemechanicalpropertiesoftheblendedfiberswereimprovedsignificantlywithincreasingtheweightratioofCAB,andPHBVintheblendedsystemcandecreasethespinningtemperature.Continuousanduniformnano-powderswerepreparedviadirectmeltextrusionofimmiscibleblendsofthermoplasticPHBVwithCABandsubsequentextractionremovalofCAB.RatiosofPHBV/CAB,meltviscosity,andinterfacialtensionsaffecttheformationofnano-powders.CABcontentintheblendsandlowinterfacialtensionsbetweenPHBVandCABaretwokeyfactors.TheprocessingwasobservedbyOMandSEM.Thisfabricationprocesspossesses
