Poly(dimethylsiloxane)(PDMS)hasbeenwidelyusedasabiomaterialduetoitsgoodcompatibility,highmechanicalstrength,excellentoxygenpermeabilityandeaseoffabrication.However,modificationswithhydrophilicfunctionalgroupsorpolymersarenecessarytoimproveitssurfacewettabilityandwaterpermeabilityformoreextensiveusesuchasdrugdeliveryandlong-termimplantation.Inthecurrentwork,interpenetratingpolymernetworks(IPNs)ofhydroxylterminatedPDMSandpoly(2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate)(PHEMA)werepreparedbymonomerimmersionmethodandinfluencingfactorsonhydrogelcontentwereinvestigated.Improvedsurfacewettabilityandswellingabilitysuggestedthehydrogelcomponentwerepresentonthesurfaceaswellasinthebulkmaterial.HydrogelcontentintheIPNsystemcanbeoptimizedbyadditionofsolventduringbothPDMScuringprocedureandsubsequenthydrogelincorporationstepforbetterwaterpermeability.
