Thetensilepropertiesofthehigh-temperatureresistantPoly(4,4’-diphenylsulphoneterephthalamide-co-3,3’-diphenylsulphoneterephthalamide)(PSA)filamentswereinvestigatedbythetemperature-controlledStress-strainTester.Theeffectsofdrawingrate,drawingratioanddrawingtemperatureonthetensilepropertywereinvestigatedbyanalyzingthecharacteristicsofthetensilecurvesobtainedatdifferentdrawingconditions.DevelopmentofstructureandmorphologyforPSAas-spunfilamentduringdrawingprocesswasstudiedbysynchrotronwide-angleX-raydiffraction(WAXD)andsmall-angleX-rayscattering(SAXS)techniques.Itisshownthatthestrengthincreasedwiththeincreaseofdrawingratiountil2.2whilethecorrespondingelongationdecreased.ThetenacityofPSAfilamentenhancedwhendrawnathighertensilerateuntil30mm/minandreduceddramaticallyattensilerateof40mm/min.Theeffectofincreasingthedrawingtemperatureontensilepropertyequalstothatofdecreasingthedrawingrateinthecold-drawingprocess.AnalyzingtheWAXDpatternsshowsthatcrystallineorientationofPSAas-spunfilamentimprovedsignificantlywhendrawnuptostrainof220%anditcorrelatesverywellwiththemorphologychangesuggestedbySAXSresults.
