PolyolefinbasedfiberXLATMisknownaselasticfiberresistanttohightemperature,UVlightandchemicals.TheelasticityofXLATMfiberswerestudiedandcomparedwithspandexaftertheyaretreatedwithchemicalssuchasSodiumhypochlorite(NaClO),sulfuricacid(H2SO4),andSodiumhydroxide(NaOH).Thetreatedconditionswerechosenaccordingtotheprocessingparametersusedinpractice.ItwasfoundthatthechemicaltreatmenthasnoobviouseffectontheelasticrecoveryofXLATMfibersasthatofspandex.Fouriertransforminfrared(FT-IR)spectroscopycouldnotdetectanychangeinthecharacterbandoffiberstreatedbySodiumhydroxide(NaOH).TheresultssuggestthatpolyolefinbasedelasticfiberXLATMhavegoodresistancetogeneralchemicalagentusedintextileprocessingandexcellentelasticrecoveryforalkalitreatment.
